Spirit Guides can communicate with us in innumerable ways.  Sometimes we can overlook their insights, thinking they should be loud and obvious or accompanied by harps or trumpets.  Most of the time their messages are subtle and require our in-the-present awareness in order to receive them.  The following is a list of different ways I have communicated with my guides.  It is not meant as an extensive list, but just as a key to the many doorways you can open to allow them to communicate with you.  Hopefully by reading this, you become more aware and open to the many different ways your guides can communicate with you, too.

Automatic typing/writing – begin by asking a question, and type or write everything that pops into your head.  It doesn’t matter what it is, just keep writing.  This helps overcome conscious mind interference (the part that says communicating with Spirit Guides is impossible).  Eventually, you will be able to channel longer and more meaningful messages from them.

Painting/Art - Choose the art medium of your choice, and just create without thinking or analyzing.  Let your creative self have free reign.  When we are open to this part of ourselves, we are connecting with our subconscious mind, which is also the part of the mind that receives intuitive insights.

Other People – Spirit Guides can communicate messages to you through other people.  This is when being present and fully in-the-moment pays off.  Sometimes I’ll have a question in my mind and because I’ve been agonizing over it, my guides can’t get though.  Then, I’ll be talking to someone, and all of a sudden they start saying something that is the perfect answer to my question, and as I look at them, I see my guides in my mind’s eye talking through them.  When you’re having a conversation with someone, be fully present and listen to what they say.

Your Favorite Hobby – Do you have a favorite hobby that requires your focused concentration?  If so, it is also an active meditation, and a wonderful opportunity to receive insights and messages from your guides.  Any activity that requires focused attention, even doing dishes, is a great opportunity for you to receive a message.

Roll Playing - We are getting messages from our guides all the time, even if we are not consciously aware of them.  One way to ask a question and get a quick answer is to roll play.  Have a conversation with yourself.  State your question or concern out loud.  Then, playing the roll of your Spirit Guides, answer yourself out loud.  Remember that Spirit Guides are incredibly loving and nonjudgemental.  Their communications will make you feel supreme love and appreciation for yourself.

Books - Have you ever flipped open a book and found the exact answer you were looking for?  This is another case of working through other people and things.  There are no coincidences, so when you ask for an answer and receive it, pay attention.

Driving – If you’re ever lost while driving, ask your guides to help you find your way and then pay attention to your intuitive nudges of where to go.

Cooking – I have a guide that lets me know when food in the oven is ready to be taken out.  He also helps me cook different dishes and get inspired when I’m feeling bored of the same ol’ dishes.  Of course, sometimes I am beyond his help, like when I attempted to make vegan brownies without a recipe.   He probably thought, “Oh well.  You win some, you lose some.”

Feelings - Sometimes I feel waves of peace and love flowing through my body.  When I’m meditating and very relaxed, these feelings can become very intense and bring me to tears.  Other times, they can send me feelings of peace when I’m receiving news that otherwise would have worried me to let me know that everything is okay.

In every activity, in every moment, and in every day, your Spirit Guides can communicate with you and help you.

What do you do when you want insight?

We are all naturally intuitive spiritual beings, but many of us don’t pay attention to the insights we receive.  Paying attention to your intuition can add a wonderful new and incredibly helpful dimension to your life.  One of the easiest ways to remind yourself that you are receiving insights and having spiritual and psychic experiences is to keep a psychic journal.

Grab a notebook and write down every hunch, flash of light, sense of knowing, message in a dream, feeling, and psychic insight as you get it.  Carry it with you wherever you go.  This helps affirm that you are getting messages.  Most of the time we overlook or disregard insights and experiences we have because they feel normal (which of course, they are).  Then, we think we’re not getting messages, when in fact we’ve been getting lots of messages but have disregarded them.  Keeping everything in a journal helps track the experiences you have, affirms to yourself that you’re getting them, and reinforces subconsciously that you expect to get more.

If so, do you use it?  (Ha!  Got you there, didn’t I?  I have several different places I write insights down, but I don’t do it all the time.  I’m taking my inspiration to write this post as a sign that I need to do this myself more.)

So you’re ready to take the plunge into tarot and are wondering which deck to get?  Have you noticed that there are hundreds of choices?!  Ahhhh!!!

Have no fear, the psychic tarot lady is here!  (That’s me, in case you were wondering.  I hope you heard cool theme music in your head.)

First, go to Aeclectic.net and look at the hundreds of decks they have (you can even see pictures), and see which decks appeal to you.  Do they spark your interest?  Are they cards you would want to look at over and over?  Do you like the pretty colors?

If you want to learn psychic tarot, I strongly recommend getting decks with pictures for the numbered cards.  I mean detailed pictures, not just three circles for the three of pentacles, for example.  You’ll know what I mean once you start looking at decks.  When I do readings, my Spirit Guides draw my attention to certain images on the cards as one way to communicate messages.

Are you getting a tarot deck or an oracle deck?  The difference is that a tarot deck has 78 cards, major and minor arcana, and all decks basically have the same cards represented.  Oracle decks may have any number of different cards, are very different from each other, and usually do not follow traditional tarot meanings.  If you want an example of an oracle deck that’s incredible, check out Sonia Choquette’s Soul Lessons and Soul Purpose Cards.  I recently purchased this deck, and I love it.  As I read the meaning in the accompanying book of the card I picked, I feel like it was written just for me.

The most important part of choosing your tarot or oracle deck is following your intuition and paying attention to which deck you are drawn to.  Which one excites and inspires you?  Most people recommend getting a Rider-Waite deck, for example, but that deck has never appealed to me, so I’m probably the only tarot reader in the world who doesn’t own that deck.  It’s suggested because a lot of tarot books use that deck.  I’ve read many tarot books using other decks and never had an issue.

Follow your heart, and you will find the perfect deck for you!

Hello everyone!

I am writing to share a really neat story with you about how my Spirit Guides created some interesting car issues for me one day. I had just arrived at work and put my key in my purse. My actual key chain with the rest of my keys had been missing for several days after I took my car key off to go somewhere without taking my purse. I closed my eyes and asked my guides to please help me find my key chain because I was worried about losing my car key. As I opened the door to get out of the car, my purse tilted and I heard something fall on the floor. I craned my neck around the car seat to look behind the driver’s side, and lo-and-behold! There was my key chain on the floor! I was so thankful! I thought, “Man, this Spirit Guide stuff is so cool!” I thanked them so much and , with a big smile on my face, started getting out of my car again. Just then, the CD player started playing. I stopped moving. The car was off, and the CD player was playing. This had never happened before (or since), so I didn’t know what was going on. I thought that maybe if I turn on my car and turn it back off, maybe it would fix whatever was going on. I dug in my purse for my car key, but it wasn’t there. I searched and searched. Then, I realized it must have been the object that dropped out of my purse initially that led to me finding my key chain. I looked under my seat, and there it was. The CD player stopped playing. If it hadn’t started playing, I would have locked my key in my car. I said yet another thank you to my guides and went to work.

Isn’t that a cool story? Just one of the many ways Spirit Guides communicate and help in daily life.

Here are a few quick tips in order to ask effective tarot (or other divination tool) questions:

Ask open-ended questions, rather than Yes or No questions. You will get much more information about your question this way.  Also, yes/no questions are tricky because wording is so important.  For example, when I was in college, I was totally smitten with a certain man and asked if I was going to see him the next morning. I used a pendulum to get my answer, and the answer was yes.  I knew I was going to the church he goes to the next morning, and was so excited when I learned I would see him there.  I woke up extra early to get ready and arrive early so I could spend as much time as possible with him at church.  Well, he wasn’t at church that morning.  I was really hurt, confused, and disappointed.  Then, I thought back to my question and realized Read the rest of this entry »

Hello Everyone!  I’m currently writing a book on psychic tarot reading, and I thought I’d share a bit about reading the Court Cards.  Court cards can be confusing at times, and I think this is mainly because we try to pigeonhole them into the traditional meanings of young person, teenager, or adult.  Let’s open up to our psychic abilities and recognize the wealth of possibilities inherent in each court card! Are you looking for a way to practice tarot reading that is easy, fun, and involves watching TV?  I just read a great idea from Sandy Anastasi’s book, Tarot Reader’s Workbook.  (If you’re looking for a tarot book, her book is excellent!)

Before you begin watching a show, choose a character and do a tarot reading for what will happen to him/her throughout the episode.  Then, watch it and see how you did!  This can also be done with movies and books.  I can’t wait to try this out!

I think it would also be helpful to do readings on shows you’ve already watched.  Then you can see how certain events are portrayed in the cards.  I do this with real-life situations as well.  If there’s something big in the news or my life that has happened, I do a reading and ask to be shown how this event would have been portrayed in a tarot reading.
