I have in my oven right now a vegan brownie experiment. I’ve been a vegetarian for over a year, and after researching about how chickens are treated and thinking about eggs being the stolen babies of hens, I’ve decided to weed them out as well. Actually, I’ve never liked eggs on their own, but I still eat baked goods that have eggs in them. Anyhoo, I bought a yummy brownie mix and decided to find a substitute for the 2 eggs it called for. Hmmm…..I read that some people replace eggs with applesauce or banana, but I didn’t have either one of those. I decided to use an apple mixed with a little bit Read the rest of this entry »

I learned a new word last night in my dream – complicake. So far, we’ve concocted two meanings for it.
This is the meaning it had in the dream. Someone was saying something was complicated, but instead they said, “Complicake.” I was confused and repeated it to them, but that’s what they meant. In hypnosis, one way to help someone become more relaxed is called a confusion method. You say something that’s a little off or abnormal, and their conscious mind focuses on it while they become more relaxed. In the same way, this could be used in a conversation with someone (or yourself) who is sounding like a broken record. Sometimes we get on trains of thought that go around and around, aren’t helpful, and don’t get us anywhere. If you throw in a word like complicake, it throws them for a loop. They are distracted from their broken record and now have an opportunity to think new thoughts.
Another meaning we came up with is when something is at first complicated or feels difficult, but after you do it initially, it makes everything else a piece of cake. Mark used this example with me making my first newsletter (yea!). It took hours and hours to design! I am someone who likes things to be done quickly, so at first, when it seemed like it was long and complicated, and I thought I would be doing this every two weeks, I was not a happy camper. Then, Mark reminded me that I was making a template that could be used for all the other newsletters, so even though it took a while initially, it would make all the other newsletters easy to produce. It’s complicake!

I had such a wonderful evening! I was invited to share the story of how Mark and I met during the Thanksgiving church service tonight. At first, I was so excited. Then I thought, “How in the world am I going to condense our story to 2 minutes?” We have so many magical stories from our relationship – practically one for every day we’ve been together. Fortunately, I had just learned the “That makes it easier” lesson from my guides, so I turned my attitude around to see it as a blessing to only have to figure out 2 minutes of a talk. So easy, right? Read the rest of this entry »

I have a plan to teach Cosmo to be a Circus cat. I decided when I gave her treats, I would trow them over a stick I was holding and see if she jumped over. She caught on very quickly! She jumps over the stick like a trained show kitty! However, my kitty is very clever. She knows I really enjoy her circus trick. If I throw anything other than a treat over the stick, like a bouncy ball, she acts totally clueless. She’s basically saying to me, “If you want me to perform, you’d better cough up the treats!” (photo doctoring by my brother-in-love Drew)

Kitty Cosmo has always been an inside cat and has been terrified of the outdoors. We have been taking her with us when we visit my mom so she can play with my mom’s cat, who loves going outside. When it’s nice outside, we all sit in the beautiful backyard and chit chat. We have been asking Cosmo to join us all outside for several months, but she has been too scared.
About a month ago, she started putting her front paws outside for a minute before rushing back inside. Last weekend when we were are my mom’s, we were astonished to see Cosmo exploring Read the rest of this entry »

A few mornings ago, I was contemplating getting out of bed when my pretty kitty came in to greet me. She sat beside the bed and stared at me expectantly. I tuned into her thoughts, and she told me that Mark hadn’t paid any attention to her that morning. Read the rest of this entry »

Cosmo is our kitty cat. She and I have had quite the journey together. What began as a tumultuous relationship became a blessing in disguise as I learned to develop a new psychic ability.
Cosmo was Mark’s cat originally, and when I first met her, she bit me. Things got worse when Mark and I moved in together. She would chase me down the hall, bite me, swat at my feet, etc. Animals love me, so I was shocked and hurt by her treatment.
After many months of being miserable together (the cat and I), doing everything we could think of to make things better, we decided to give her away. Mark made up a flyer and e-mailed it to friends with a description of her and a photo. Several weeks passed without any interest in our biting cat. Hmm…I wonder why? Read the rest of this entry »
